Market Hall, a world-class space for digital innovation and learning situated in the heart of Devonport, Plymouth, has been awarded Heritage Project of The Year at the Michelmores Property Awards 2021.

The 19th Michelmores Property Awards were held on Thursday 4 November with a glittering awards ceremony and gala dinner at Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter. Despite the challenges faced over the last few years, both Market Hall and The Box Plymouth were nominated for multiple awards and represented the city at the ceremony. The Box took home the Building of the Year award as well as the prize for Leisure and Tourism Project of the year.

Lindsey Hall, Chief Executive at Real Ideas said:

“We are delighted and very grateful to win the award, it is a recognition of the extraordinary hard work of the design team and all involved. We are very grateful to everyone who invested in the project and to the ongoing support from Plymouth City Council, Arts Council England, the University of Plymouth, and many others who have kept us going over the years.

“We are very privileged to be the current guardians of the Market Hall, it is brilliant to breathe new life into the extraordinary building, reusing and extending the life of a valuable resource.”
