How to Book

Tickets can be booked online via our website 

If you would like help booking your ticket to Illuminate, please visit Ocean Studios (Factory Cooperage, Royal William Yard, Plymouth PL1 3RP) or Market Hall (Duke St, Devonport, Plymouth PL1 4PS) where our Hosts can assist you.

Pricing and Concessions

Real Ideas endeavours to provide a free or financially accessible ticket pricing scheme wherever possible. Where a price is associated with a ticket, the fee is collected by Real Ideas on behalf of the artist, and we do not profit from ticket sales. 

We currently only provide discounts to residents very local to Market Hall for specific events based on a proximity to the venue, proof of eligibility for local’s rates may be requested when checking in.

Ticket Collection

You will be emailed a digital copy of your ticket. When you arrive at Illuminate, please have your ticket to hand and the QR code in your ticket ready for our Hosts to scan. It is not necessary to print out your tickets, we prefer digital wherever possible to keep our environmental impact as low as possible. 

Ticket Transfer or Cancellation

Only tickets purchased via Ticketsolve (accessed via www.realideas.org/whats-on) are valid for admission. Tickets may not be sold on for commercial gain – any tickets purchased through unapproved channels will be deemed invalid, and admission will be refused. 

We appreciate that plans change, so here’s our policy if you need to cancel.

For free General Admission tickets: 

If you can’t make the General Admission session you have booked, you can request a ticket cancellation by completing our cancellation request form. We would much rather you cancel your tickets and allow other people to book, so please make use of this facility if you can no longer attend. If you have another date in mind that you’d like to book for and tickets are available, please proceed to order another ticket yourself so you don’t miss out. Our team will not be processing date exchanges during Illuminate.

For paid activity: 

Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before the start time of your experience. To request a ticket cancellation please fill our cancellation request form. Please note it may take our team up to 3 business days to process refunds.

Unfortunately, if you cancel within 24 hours’ notice of a paid for event, we will not be able to offer a full refund. This is to ensure that costs for artists are covered. 

Social Media

Our social pages will be managed every day of Illuminate. Please message us via socials if you have any questions. Please tag us in your photos and stories from Illuminate: Illuminate Light Festival, Ocean Studios, and the Market Hall UK. We’ll do our best to share as many pics, posts and stories as we can.

Please be considerate of other audience members when taking film and photos and sharing on social media. 

Our official event photographers will be taking film and photos during Illuminate. They will be clearly identifiable and will ask permission before taking any close-up shots of audience Members. 

Group Bookings

If you are booking for more than one group your tickets will still be listed under the lead ticket holders name. Please make it clear who the lead ticket holder is in your group to make check in without a QR code easier if you are arriving separately.

Your Information

Real Ideas will request certain information from you when booking tickets or adding you to our mailing list (e.g. name, address, contact details). Any information you provide will be held securely and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (2018), and any card details you have provided for payment will be processed through secure server software. Your information will not be passed on to third parties without your prior consent.

During the booking process, we may ask you for a contact telephone number or email address; this is to allow us to contact you with further information and any changes to your booking (including postponement/cancellation). We would only contact you using these details regarding existing bookings and will not use this information for marketing purposes without your prior consent.

Should you indicate you would like to be added to our mailing list, your information may be used by Real Ideas to notify you of our work and upcoming events.  If you no longer wish to be on our mailing lists, then please notify us and we will remove your information from our system.
