Amy Cooper Programme Coordinator

Amy is a Programme Coordinator working on projects that reach broadly across the Real Ideas Programmes. From working with young people to support them in building the skills they need for their future carer via Future Make, to offering consultation to new community business start-ups through the Empowering Places programme, Amy enjoys the diversity of the projects she works on and the people she meets along the way, sharing ideas, learning and resources to support positive change in our communities.

Since becoming a Programme Coordinator in 2019 Amy has an increased interest in new economy, ownership of land and assets and community organising, and how these could play a role in building a more inclusive and democratic society.

Amy initially joined Real Ideas in 2016, she started as an Enterprise Coordinator supporting the management of Devonport Guildhall. Her previous experience covers, project, event, and venue management within the cultural and educational sectors, having previously worked for Charities, Universities, Art Galleries and Local Council. She has managed and coordinated projects large and small including city wide festivals and public art installations, community, and music events.

Outside of Real Ideas, Amy is as a Director, Coach and Skater for Plymouth City Roller Derby CIC, a grass roots team that plays the inclusive, empowering and full contact sport of Roller Derby. She is also a Director of a local community brewery Billy Ruffian’s Brewing Co and a musician that sings about politics, feminism, and activism.
